Our Relocation department has provided assistance to corporations and individuals with all
aspects of relocating. Its purpose is to support corporate or individual relocation no matter
where you are moving from or to nationwide. We offer a full compliment of relocation services,
and are equipped to handle every aspect of corporate relocation from policy consulting, to
expense tracking, to agent selection, and special programs designed to make a smooth
transition for the relocating physician or healthcare executive and their families.
The Relocation Department staff coordinate the relocation of hundreds of families per year.
The department completes an average of three successful relocations each day.
| Each family is assigned a non-realtor advocate who introduces
them to all the area has to offer, and answers every question for as long as they need
them. There is not a question too small or a need too big that they won't answer. This

Below are a few suggestions for easing you
through the moving process.
| ONE MONTH BEFORE YOU MOVE... Arrange for a moving firm agent to visit your
home to inspect your possessions and give an estimate of moving cost. Check insurance
coverage, packing and unpacking labor costs, travel time for the load, and method and time
for payment. Many moving companies require cash or money orders at the destination before
unloading, so be prepared.
- Make a list of items to be moved or discarded
- Notify Post Office of moving date and new address-fill out and send "change of address
cards" to all correspondents
- Terminate memberships- Church, clubs, and civic organizations.
- Get letters of introduction
- Notify newspapers, creditors, insurance companies, attorney, etc. of your intended
move
- Close credit accounts
- Notify schools and collect transcripts or arrange for records to be sent to the new
school district
- Obtain birth records, baptismal certificates, etc.
TWO WEEKS BEFORE YOU MOVE...
- Check with moving company and confirm moving address
- Transfer insurance coverages to include possessions at new home and in route
- Transfer bank accounts and ask for credit references to be transferred to your new
bank
- Begin packing things you intend to move yourself
- Take things to the cleaners as necessary, and have them moving wrapped
- Make or confirm travel arrangements-include arrangements for pets
ONE WEEK BEFORE YOU MOVE...
- Collect items from cleaners, in storage, at repair shop or loaned out
- Return borrowed items
- Clean appliances for shipping-remove TV antenna if necessary
- Notify phone company, arrange for all utility meters to be read prior to your move,
and arrange for any refunds due you
- Gather appliance warranties and instructions and put them in kitchen cupboard for new
tenants
TWO DAYS BEFORE YOU MOVE...
- Drain power tools of fuel if necessary
- Label paint cans for new tenants-they may want touch-up paint
- Remove curtains, drapes, and other fixtures you are taking with you
- Buy traveler‘s checks for funds while in route
The following documents, referring to yourself and all family members and pets, should
be checked off before the move, and be immediately accessible afterwards. Often, you will
need two different documents to serve as identification.
- Driver license
- Social Security cards
- Birth certificate
- Vehicle title(s) and/or registration(s)
- Vehicle insurance policy
- Tax returns (last two years)
- W-2 forms (last two years)
- School transcripts
- Special or general power of attorney from spouse concerning home purchase (if
necessary)
- Personal financial statement
- Medical records
- Immunization records (especially children‘s)
- Address/telephone book (personal)
- Local phone book from old location
